The helium liquefier operated by the Chair of Applied Physics produces liquid helium (T = 4.2 K) from gaseous helium. Liquid helium is used at various institutions of the university. Beside the physics department, other institutions of FAU (chemistry) and the university hospital (magnetic resonance tomography, bio magnetism) are supplied with liquid helium for cooling their equipment.

The liquefier is located in the basement of building B3, room U1.686.
